Why podcasts are the easiest thing to clip

A podcast is almost all speech, and that is exactly what the clipper reads. It goes through the whole conversation looking for the answer that works without the question before it: a strong opinion, a story with an ending, a number nobody expected. Each clip starts on the line that hooks and stops when the thought is finished.

Long episodes are the point, not the problem. The transcript of a three-hour episode is read in one pass, and you choose whether you want 15–35, 30–60 or 55–90 second clips.

Details that matter for a podcast

  • When the edit cuts between guests, the vertical crop jumps with it and stays on whoever is on screen. Two people on one wide shot do not fit in a vertical frame: use “Fit” to show the whole frame over a blurred background.
  • Audio-first show with a static image: export the clip as MP3 and use it as an audiogram source, or take the SRT into your editor.
  • Guest names and jargon come from YouTube’s captions, so check the spelling in the preview before you export.
  • Square 1:1 exports for feeds where vertical is not the default.

How to make clips from a podcast episode

  1. Find the episode on YouTube. Open the video version of the episode on YouTube and copy its link.
  2. Paste the link. Paste it on snap-media.com/podcast-clip-maker and choose a clip length.
  3. Pick framing and captions. Choose 9:16 or 1:1, crop or fit, and a caption style; preview each clip.
  4. Download. Download each clip as MP4, as MP3, or just its SRT.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does it work with audio-only podcasts?
The episode has to be on YouTube with captions. It works from a YouTube link and needs the video to have captions, which YouTube generates automatically for almost everything with speech. It does not take file uploads. If your show is audio-only but published on YouTube with a static image, it works, and MP3 export gives you the clip as audio.
How long can the episode be?
Up to 30 minutes on the free plan and up to 3 hours on Pro.
How does it handle two speakers?
“Follow faces” finds the faces in each shot and moves the crop to them, so a guest framed to one side stays in the picture and the crop jumps when the video cuts to the other person. It follows faces, not voices: on a wide shot of two people who do not both fit, it keeps the larger face rather than whoever is talking. For that shot, “Fit” shows the entire frame over a blurred copy of itself. The preview shows the result before you export.
Is it free?
Free to start: 1 video a day without an account, 3 a day with a free one (videos up to 30 minutes), and 5 clip exports a day in 720p with a small watermark. Pro (9.99 EUR/month or 89 EUR/year) takes videos up to 3 hours, suggests up to 10 clips per video and exports 1080p without the watermark. Caption files (SRT, VTT, TXT) are always free.
Can I clip someone else’s podcast?
Only with the rights to do so: your own show, or one whose host or licence allows clipping. Many shows encourage it; check before you post.
