From one long video to a week of short ones

A one-hour podcast usually holds a handful of moments that would stand on their own as a Short, a Reel or a TikTok. Finding them means watching the whole thing, noting timestamps, cutting, reframing to vertical and typing captions. The clipper does that part: it reads the conversation, picks the moments with a strong opening and a clear payoff, and gives you each one ready to download.

How to make clips from a YouTube video

  1. Copy the link of a long video — a podcast, interview, stream or talk.
  2. Paste it above, choose a clip length and click "Find clips".
  3. Preview each clip with its captions; switch between 9:16, 1:1 and 16:9.
  4. Download the MP4, the MP3, or just the SRT for your own editor.

One clipper, for whatever you are clipping

The same tool, explained for each job: turn a YouTube video into Shorts, pull clips from a podcast, make clips for TikTok, or work through a backlog as a clipper. To see what viewers already re-watch before you cut anything, use the free YouTube Most Replayed finder. Coming from another tool? Here is how it compares as an Opus Clip alternative.

Everything a creator needs, in one place

The clipper sits next to the rest of SnapMedia's tools: the video to text transcript, the SRT generator, the file converter and the downloaders for YouTube, TikTok and X. No software to install, and the same account for all of them.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the AI clipper pick the moments?
It reads what is said in the video — the subtitle track the platform already has — and looks for moments that work on their own: a first sentence that grabs attention, one complete idea, and a payoff at the end. Each clip starts and ends on a sentence boundary, taken from the subtitle timings, so nothing is cut mid-word. When YouTube publishes its “most replayed” graph for the video, the clipper also uses it: clips that contain the parts viewers re-watch the most are labelled as such. That is YouTube’s own audience data, not an estimate.
Does it guarantee a clip will go viral?
No, and nothing can. The clipper ranks moments by how well they should stand alone and tells you why it picked each one. What happens after you post depends on your audience, the platform and timing. We do not show a made-up "virality score".
What formats can I download?
Each clip as an MP4 video in 9:16 (Shorts, Reels, TikTok), 1:1 or 16:9, with captions burned in or without them; as MP3 audio; or just the captions as SRT, VTT or TXT with the timings starting at zero, ready for your own editor.
Is it free?
Yes to start: one video a day without an account. A free account clips 3 videos a day (up to 30 minutes long) and exports 5 clips a day in 720p with a small watermark. Pro (9.99 EUR/month, or 89 EUR/year) takes videos up to 3 hours, suggests up to 10 clips per video and exports in 1080p without the watermark. Caption files are always free.
Which videos work best?
Talking videos: podcasts, interviews, streams, talks, lessons and commentary. The clipper works from what is said, so a video with no speech, or with only music, has nothing to cut. It needs the video to have subtitles, which YouTube generates for almost everything.
How is the video framed in vertical?
Two options. "Fill" crops the centre of the frame, which is right for one person talking to camera. "Fit" shows the whole frame over a blurred copy of itself, which is better when two people sit apart or the action is not in the centre. The preview shows exactly how it will look before you export.
Can I clip videos I do not own?
Only clip what you have the rights to use: your own videos, or content whose licence or owner allows it. Commentary and fair use depend on your country and on how you use the clip.
